Description

The Benefits Analyst will administer and support employee benefits programs, medical, dental, vision, life insurance, and disability. This role will serve as a key resource for employees, ensuring they understand their benefits, enrollment options, eligibility requirements, and available resources.

The Benefits Specialist works closely with Human Resources, payroll, insurance carriers, and third-party administrators to ensure accurate benefit administration, compliance with federal and state regulations, and provide positive employee experience.

Benefits Administration

  1. Administer employee benefits programs, including medical, dental, vision, life insurance, and disability
  2. Manage employee eligibility and coverage status
  3. Assist with coordinating annual open enrollment activities and attending events
  4. Maintains and recommends improvements to process, procedures, and documentation to ensure efficiency and effectiveness of benefits program administration

Employee Support & Education

  1. Conduct benefits orientation sessions for new hires and maternity leave benefit sessions
  2. Assist employees with escalated employee benefits questions by partnering with the Employee Resource Center
  3. Ensures high level of customer service with employees

Compliance & Regulatory Management

  1. Ensure compliance with ACA, COBRA, HIPPA, ERISA, FMLA and other applicable regulations
  2. Maintain required benefits documentation and records
  3. Support internal and external audits
  4. Monitor legislative changes affecting employee benefits programs

Vendor & Carrier Relations

  1. Liaise with insurance carriers, brokers, and third-party administrators
  2. Resolve benefit- related issues and escalations
  3. Coordinate implementation of benefit plan changes with internal and external parties
  4. Review service performance and vendor compliance

HRIS & Data Management

  1. Maintain accurate employee benefits data in HRIS system
  2. Audit employee records for accuracy and completeness
  3. Generate benefits reports and analyze data to report on trends or find errors
  4. Assist with troubleshooting issues and implement enhancements for the HRIS systems

Benefits Communication

  1. Promote awareness of available benefit programs
  2. Partner with internal departments to help promote plan changes and open enrollment
  3. Maintain the employee benefits section of the intranet site

Additional Duties as Assigned

Travel: Travel between Emory operating units and affiliated sites may be required Work Type: Hybrid employee may split time between working remotely and working in the office

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's degree in human resources, business administration or a related field
  • 2 years of experience in benefits administration, HR, benefits consulting, or related employee services

Knowledge, skills, and abilities (required):

  1. Performs work under direct supervision
  2. Employee Benefit administration knowledge
  3. Ability to manage cross-functional projects and influence stakeholders
  4. Strong analytical and project management skills
  5. Ability to prioritize competing operational initiatives
  6. Ability to articulate clear process workflows and manage high-stakes priorities smoothly

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with Peoplesoft or Workday
  • Certification: Professional human resources (PHR, SPHR, SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP) or Certified Employee Benefits Specialist (CEBS)
