Description

Overview:

The Director - Supply Chain Operations, is responsible for the daily operations of all hospital supply chain functions for their assigned EHC hospital, ensuring efficient procurement, inventory management, distribution, and cost management of medical supplies while prioritizing patient care by maintaining quality standards and compliance with healthcare regulations, often collaborating with clinical teams to optimize supply utilization and identify cost-savings opportunities.

Responsible to lead and manage all hospital supply chain operational activities across all areas: OR supply chain, procedural areas, and in-patient nursing. Will be responsible to manage and own supply expense across all hospital departments. The position will serve as the primary contact and liaison for all supply chain related activities between their assigned hospital and EHI Supply Chain departments (Procurement, Value Analysis Contracting etc.).

Position will serve as the face of Supply Chain. Responsibilities include inventory management, supply distribution, vendor relationship management, and managing supply expense across all clinical departments: OR, procedural areas, inpatient nursing etc. The position will integrate the department's services with the hospital's primary functions, develop/implement policies and procedures that guide or support services, assess and improve department performance.

Primary duties and responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage all EHC Supply Chain Operations activities:
      • 1. Optimize the process of the OR, Procedural area and Inpatient Nursing Supply Chain teams to maximize supply availability to internal customers and improve patient outcomes.
      • 2. Build and maintain close working relationships with OR, Procedural area and inpatient nursing and clinical staff to partner on all supply chain projects and issues.
  • Coordinate and drive efforts to optimize supply distribution through supply improvement initiatives (SII) across the EHC system:
      • 1. Lead the standardization of products and optimize supply utilization through effective collaboration with EHC Purchasing, physicians and clinicians to improve supply availability and reduce expenses.
      • 2. Execute the Supply Chain Performance Measurement plan and report these results to leadership in an accurate and timely manner Implement and optimize
  • Supply Chain systems and associated operational processes:
      • 1. Execute on the operational plan for all inventory management systems and supply chain systems across assigned hospital. This includes the implementation of the standardization programs for all supply chain functions.
      • 2. Manage and improve related processes efficiency and develop strategic and tactical plans accordingly with a focus on continuous improvement.
  • Develop and improve Supply Chain Operations leadership and staff:
      • 1. Manage employee development through the EHC's evaluation process: establish KPI's, measure performance and development opportunities.
      • 2. Identify strengths, areas for improvement and opportunities for growth to develop leadership ability in direct reports and staff.
  • Drive financial improvements through ownership of all supply spend in the assigned hospital and adherence to Supply Chain Operations departmental budgets:
      • 1. Own and manage supply expense across all departments in the hospital (OR, procedural areas and inpatient nursing etc.) by partnering with clinical teams to optimize inventory levels and make changes as needed.
      • 2. Develop staffing and expense budgets for the organization, partnering with Supply Chain Operations leadership
  • Additional Duties as Assigned

Travel: Less than 10% of the time may be required.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Education - Bachelor's degree in Business Management, Healthcare, Economics, Finance, Supply Chain
  • Experience - 10 yrs managing supply chain and distribution in a complex environment
  • Skills, abilities and knowledge: Supply Chain, distribution, transportation and operational leadership experience with demonstrated progressive responsibility, with the ability to communicate and partner with customers with differing requirements in a complex environment.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience - 15 years managing supply chain and distribution in a complex environment

        PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS (Medium Max 25lbs): up to 25 lbs., 0-33% of the work day (occasionally) Lifting 25 lbs. max; Carrying of objects up to 25 lbs.; Occasional to frequent standing & walking, Occasional sitting, Close eye work (computers, typing, reading, writing), Physical demands may vary depending on assigned work area and work tasks.

        ENVIRONMENTAL FACTORS: Factors affecting environmental conditions may vary depending on the assigned work area and tasks. Environmental exposures include but are not limited to: Blood-borne pathogen exposure, Bio-hazardous waste chemicals/gases/fumes/vapors, Communicable diseases, Electrical shock, Floor Surfaces, Hot/Cold Temperatures, Indoor/Outdoor conditions, Latex, Lighting, Patient care/handling injuries, Radiation, Shift work, Travel may be required. Use of personal protective equipment, including respirators, environmental conditions may vary depending on assigned work area and work tasks.
