**This is a hybrid position requiring roughly 50% onsite at our Northlake IT testing location**

Description

The IT Device & Test Lab Specialist supports Emory Digital's Testing team by leading complex test lab operations and ensuring readiness of devices, workstations, and testing environments that support enterprise applications and device testing initiatives. This role serves as a senior technical resource responsible for overseeing configuration, maintenance, troubleshooting, and optimization of physical and remote testing environments across Windows, Apple, and supported enterprise systems. The Senior Specialist leads complex testing initiatives, supports device qualification efforts, partners with cross-functional teams to resolve technical issues, and drives process improvements that enhance testing efficiency, consistency, and operational readiness. This role operates with a high degree of independence and serves as a subject matter expert for testing environment readiness, device configuration, and operational support.

**This role is a hybrid position that will require roughly 50% of time spent onsite at our IT testing lab/sandbox located at Northlake Parkway in Atlanta.**

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Test Lab Configuration & Maintenance Ownership:

  • Define and lead Test Lab strategy, standards, and governance by establishing frameworks, driving process improvements, and optimizing lab operations.
  • Develop and maintain a Test Lab Workstation & Device Inventory Dashboard including workstation status, hostname, operating system, assigned persona, installed software, connected devices, and mapped printers.
  • Own maintenance of physical and remote workstations and devices to support functional, application, and integrated testing across all supported operating systems and applications.
  • Ensure workstations are current, properly configured, and aligned with required end-user personas.
  • Ensure remote workstations are accessible through the BeyondTrust console.
  • Verify that devices and peripherals are properly connected, configured, and updated with current firmware and software prior to testing.
  • Test, troubleshoot, and resolve common peripheral-related issues prior to testing initiatives.
  • Reconfigure workstations to address new project initiatives, objectives, and test specifications.
  • Wipe and reimage workstations post-testing to restore standard configuration settings.
  • Develop, implement, and execute annual Apple Beta testing strategies within the Test Lab in collaboration with the QA Manager and Apple Engineers.

Onsite Testing Leadership:

  • Manage peripheral and hardware request process & procedure (e.g., iPhones, iPads, Dragon microphones).
  • Provide mentorship and lead complex device integration & configuration testing efforts.
  • Own technical support of onsite testing initiatives, by resolving device, software, and connectivity issues and assisting users with log in blocks, and other basic computer functions.
  • Escalate, track, and coordinate resolution of major workstation or device failures through resolution and retesting.

Device Maintenance and Testing:

  • Own development and lead execution of test strategies and plans to qualify new devices for production release, including validation and sign-off at each phase of the release process.
  • Lead cross-functional device testing initiatives and influence testing standards across teams.
  • Perform routine maintenance and testing to ensure reliability and performance of Test Lab devices.
  • Configure new devices and models in collaboration with Technology Operations and Analysts.
  • Troubleshoot basic device failures and escalate issues as appropriate.
  • Conduct compatibility testing and performance evaluations as needed.
  • Monitor and maintain inventory of testing supplies, including labels, telemetry strips, paper, ink, and other materials required to support device testing.

Other Testing Duties:

  • Lead execution of test cases, defect identification, reporting, and resolution tracking.
  • Maintain detailed and organized documentation of test cases, test plans, defects, and remediation activities.
  • Provide coverage and assistance in facilitating virtual testing efforts as needed.
  • Additional Duties as Assigned.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Experience Experience supporting enterprise healthcare systems
  • Experience supporting Epic testing environments
  • Experience with test automation tools
  • Experience supporting Apple Beta testing programs
  • Experience supporting large-scale enterprise device rollouts
  • Certifications: Epic certification or proficiency
  • Epic Test Coordination Knowledge Track completion
  • Additional certifications related to device management, endpoint administration, or quality assurance

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Information Systems, or a related field required. Equivalent combination of education and relevant experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
  • Experience Five (5) years of experience supporting device testing, software testing, quality assurance, or technical operations environments
  • Five (5) years of experience managing, configuring, troubleshooting, and maintaining workstations, devices, and operating systems in a healthcare or enterprise environment
  • Experience supporting complex testing initiatives across multiple platforms and operating systems
  • Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
    • Strong knowledge of Windows, macOS, mobile devices, and peripheral technologies
    • Strong troubleshooting and root cause analysis skills
    • Knowledge of software/device testing methodologies and quality assurance practices
    • Experience with asset management and inventory controls
    • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced testing environment
    • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills
    • Strong written and verbal communication skills
    • Ability to collaborate effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders
    • Ability to identify workflow improvements and operational efficiencies

Physical Requirements: (Medium - Max 25 lbs.) May include lifting and carrying objects up to 25 lbs. (0-33% of workday). Occasional standing and walking; occasional sitting; close visual work including computer use, typing, reading, and writing. Physical demands may vary depending on assigned work area and tasks.

Environmental Factors: Environmental conditions may vary depending on assigned work area and tasks. Exposure may include electrical equipment, indoor office and lab environments, variable temperatures, lighting, and occasional exposure to healthcare or technical equipment. Use of personal protective equipment may be required depending on work activities.
