Description

Responsible for transporting patients, medical records, specimens, and equipment throughout the organization. Plays a critical role in ensuring patient safety, efficiency of care delivery, and a positive patient experience.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Transport patients, records, specimens, and equipment to designated locations within the organization.

  • Respond promptly to emergency patient situations and initiate life-saving techniques, including CPR and crisis management.

  • Maintain all required lifesaving certifications.

  • Safely transfer patients to and from wheelchairs, beds, and diagnostic equipment with minimal disruption.

  • Utilize patient tracking and information systems to receive, document, dispatch, and complete transport requests.

  • Maintain and manage transport-related equipment; coordinate service requests as needed.

  • Collaborate with patients, providers, nursing staff, and imaging services teams to support care delivery.

  • Operate patient stretcher lifts in accordance with safety policies and procedures.

  • Safeguard patient belongings and maintain strict confidentiality of patient information.

  • Comply with MRI safety protocols, including use of MRI-compatible equipment (for Radiology roles).

  • Complete required training in:

    • Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) use

    • Safe patient handling and movement techniques

    • Care and operation of patient equipment (e.g., telemetry boxes, IV pumps, oxygen tanks)

  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • High school diploma or equivalent required

  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification:

    • May be required upon hire in some areas

    • May be provided post-hire in others

  • Ability to lift up to 75 pounds



PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: (Medium-Heavy) 36-75 lbs, 0-33% of the work day (occasionally); 20-35 lbs, 34-66% of the workday; (frequently); 10-20 lbs, 67-100% of the workday (constantly); Lifting 75 lbs max; Carrying of objects up to 35 lbs; Occasional to frequent standing & walking; Occasional sitting; Close eye work (computers, typing, reading, writing); Physical demands may vary depending on assigned work area and work tasks.

ENVIRONMENTAL FACTORS: Factors affecting environment conditions may vary depending on the assigned work area and tasks. Environmental exposures include, but are not limited to: Blood-borne pathogen exposure Bio-hazardous waste Chemicals/gases/fumes/vapors Communicable diseases Electrical shock , Floor Surfaces, Hot/Cold Temperatures, Indoor/Outdoor conditions, Latex, Lighting, Patient care/handling injuries, Radiation , Shift work, Travel may be required. Use of personal protective equipment, including respirators, environmental conditions may vary depending on assigned work area and work tasks
