Description

  • The VP of Procedural Areas leads in developing the philosophy, goals, and objectives for procedurals areas at dedicated facility to include Perioperative services.
  • Functions as part of an OR Steering/Executive Committee team consisting of the Anesthesiology Chief, Surgery Medical Director, Chief of Surgery, and Perioperative Director
  • Provides administrative and financial accountability for planning, directing, staffing, coordinating, and controlling functions and activities of all phases of the Perioperative Services Department and Procedural areas including the following: Operating Room, Pre-/Postoperative Units, Anesthesia Preoperative Clinic, GI, Endoscopy, and Sterile Processing
  • Provides administrative oversight and hospital executive connection to the hospital based procedural areas operated by the Service Lines and Core Services including Cardiology, Cath Lab, COA, procedural Radiology, and the Labor and Delivery Operating Suites
  • As part of OR Committee, designs, develops, organizes, directs, measures, and promotes Perioperative Services and Procedural area programs to the medical staff and community
  • Promotes increased case volume/market share through development and provision of operationally marketable surgery program, assurance of positive relations with Surgeons, provision of patient service- oriented surgical program, development, promotion, and implementation of new surgical procedures with individual Surgeon groups or surgical sections that will result in financially viable increased case volume
  • Manages the overall operations of the Procedural areas in accordance with Hospital administered policies, standards of nursing practices, and governmental regulations providing excellent care for all patients
  • Provides nursing and operational accountability for the quality improvement program in collaboration with the OR Executive Committee
  • Implements standards and administers clinical practice, evaluates clinical outcomes, and maintains patients' clinical records
  • Works collaboratively with other members of the OR Committee, the medical staff, Heart and Vascular Service Line, Cancer Service Line, other Hospital Departmental Managers, and Hospital Administration
  • Plans, directs, coordinates, implements, delegates, controls, and evaluates the continuity of care, quality of care, and customer services consistent with departmental best practice standards and objectives
  • Designs, develops, organizes, directs, measures, and promotes Procedural Area programs to the medical staff and community
  • Establishes systems for care management including assessments, care planning, and discharge planning
  • Makes necessary changes to procedures and programs to promote practices that are responsive to patient's needs
  • Monitors and assures compliance with regulatory and accrediting organizations and Hospital policies for the safe and efficient delivery of quality patient care
  • Completes and approves annual operations and capital expense budgets; directs necessary analysis, factoring financial need into budget projections, and presents proposed budgets to the governing body for final approval
  • Develops, implements, monitors, and measures programs for staff recruitment and retention
  • Participates in all standing committees
  • Communicates with Physicians and works closely with the Medical Directors to maintain a high standard of medical care and development of client relationships with Surgeons
  • Collaborates with associates in the development and review of recommended changes of policies and procedures and quality improvement indicators
  • Possesses knowledge of professional standards, principles, and procedures
  • Demonstrates excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Possesses knowledge of Joint Commission guidelines and state/federal regulations and standards
  • Demonstrates strong financial, marketing, and personnel management skills
  • Demonstrates strong project management and change managements skills
  • Demonstrates strong strategic planning skills
  • Demonstrates leadership skills with emphasis on staff retention
  • Demonstrates knowledge of computer systems and software

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Registered Nurse (RN) with valid state licensure required
  • Master's degree in nursing, health administration, or business administration required
  • Seven years OR experience with progressive OR management experience required
  • Three - five years Director experience preferred
  • Currently licensed as a registered nurse in the state of Georgia (or eligible)
  • Strong communication and organizational/planning skills with demonstrated leadership abilities
  • Extensive experience in overseeing Perioperative and Cardiology service line and nursing practice in a complex fast paced academic hospital system preferred
