Description

The Ambulatory Surgery Center in Emory University Hospital is seeking a Preoperative (Pre op) and Post Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU) Registered Nurse, with 2+ years of experience, capable of supporting both areas. Our Registered Nurses are fundamental members of inter-professional teams in hospitals and clinics that are committed to outstanding patient care. Preoperative (Pre op) and Post Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU) RN

  • Capable clinician who has acquired broad experience in caring for patients and has developed a sound understanding about the care of a particular patient population.
  • Demonstrates developed assessment skills, recognizing the impact of nursing care on patient outcomes.
  • Evaluates patient's response to planned care and adjusts plan of care as appropriate while identifying patient and family learning needs and makes recommendations to resources regarding those needs.
  • Incorporates AACN Synergy Model into clinical practice.
  • Delegates appropriately utilizing the Synergy model of care and recognizes the roles of the interdisciplinary team, patient and family care partners utilizing them appropriately as resources in planning patient care.
  • Recognizes needs and advocates for patient based on knowledge of condition
  • Orients staff or students as assigned in absence of designated preceptor.
  • Utilizes resources in a responsible manner with a focus on cost containment.
  • Identifies and implements a course of action in non-routine situations, seeking assistance to resolve complex issues.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Graduate of an accredited school of nursing 12 months of recent nursing experience within the past five years or recent completion of a re-entry nursing program.
  • Must have a valid, active unencumbered Nursing license or temporary permit approved by the Georgia Licensing Board.
  • BLS certification (AHA) required and ACLS may be required in designated departments

Ambulatory Surgery Center at EUH Clinic (Bldg B)

  • Number of Rooms: 6
  • Nursing scope of practice: GI with Colorectal procedures, General, ENT, GYN, Urology, Surgical Oncology, Ophthamology (Retina, Cornea, Glaucoma, Plastics and Muscle) and Pediatrics
  • Daily patient population: Between 25-35, depending on procedures scheduled
  • Staffing Hours: 6a-4:30p Pre op, 7a-5:30p OR and PACU. Hours may vary depending on cases and/or schedule needs.
  • Other Info: Travel to other Emory ASC’s is REQUIRED. There is a 6-week orientation period.
