ChristianaCare School-Based Health Center is looking for a Medical Assistant I.

ChristianaCare School-Based Health Centers offer comprehensive physical, behavioral, and preventive health services to school-aged youth, provided by qualified medical and behavioral health providers. Delaware's Division of Public Health, in collaboration with schools, families, healthcare providers, and community agencies, will provide comprehensive preventative, primary, and mental health care for adolescents in public high schools, aiming to improve health, academic achievement, and overall well-being.

The School-Based Health Center aims to address the health issues of adolescents by providing comprehensive health services, age-appropriate medical care, and health education to reduce high-risk behaviors. It also aims to improve access to mental health services and psychosocial problems. The center coordinates with students' medical homes and primary care providers, encourages parental/school involvement, and raises community awareness of wellness centers. The ultimate goal is to reduce critical health problems among adolescents.

Work Schedule

  • Monday to Friday from 7am to 3pm
  • Coverage will be for Brandywine High School & Concord High School
  • Covers other School-Based Health Center locations virtually and in-person as needed

Duties / Responsibilities:
As a Medical Assistant I, you will be involved with greeting and supporting patients both virtually and on-site within the practice, preparing them for virtual visits, performing point of care testing, injections, medication administration, and EKGs, assisting clinicians with examinations and procedures, preparing exam/treatment rooms with necessary supplies and equipment, completing patient-specific paperwork, ensuring EMR is up-to-date, handling patient call backs, sterilizing medical equipment, handling prior authorizations, referrals, and medical refills, scheduling tests, procedures, and surgeries, performing quality control on POCT equipment, providing documentation assistance, performing clerical duties, troubleshooting patient issues with video visits, and supporting patients in joining ChristianaCare's Patient Portal.

Education Requirements:

  • High School Graduate or GED required.
  • A graduate of a recognized Medical Assistant Program or hold current Medical Assistant Certification by a national organization accredited by the National Commission for Certifying Agencies (NCCA) or the American National Standards Institute (ANSI).

Hourly Pay Range: $19.10 - $27.69This pay rate/range represents ChristianaCare’s good faith and reasonable estimate of compensation at the time of posting. The actual salary within this range offered to a successful candidate will depend on individual factors including without limitation skills, relevant experience, and qualifications as they relate to specific job requirements.
